Fireproof material

Fireproof material

When carrying out work for improve the thermal and acoustic insulation of buildings, an important aspect concerns the use of fireproof material for fire protection of internal environments. These are non-flammable elements, used for reduce the risk of fires and delay the spread of flames.

A complete catalogue of products is available on Emmeti Isolanti. fireproof insulation, with which to improve the fire resistance properties of surfaces and pipes. In particular, we offer a selection of products from best brands in the sector, with certified solutions from the European group Global Building and the specialized Italian company BIFIRE.

For example, you can buy the fireproof bricks to be inserted in plasterboard walls and attics to protect electrical and telecommunication cables from flames. Alternatively, there are firefighting bags for openings and pipes, to be used during renovation work to protect cables and pipes from fire.

For joints and repairs, you can use the appropriate ones fireproof collars, perfect for sealing PVC pipes, while for metal ones there are the Global Building sleeves that prevent combustion and resist high temperatures. All the fireproof insulating material is certified and guaranteed by the best standards, in accordance with fire regulations.

How to choose fireproof material

For fireproof insulation it is essential to choose the right fire fighting material, based on the product classification and its fire reaction characteristics. Each element is tested to determine some of its properties, including theflammability, the amount of heat produced during combustion, the speed of propagation flames and the creation of smoke and other toxic substances.

As regards fireproof building materials, the following provisions are foreseen: 7 classes of reference, starting from the categories A1 and A2 which include non-combustible products such as cement and rock wool. After that, the materials become less and less efficient, with the classes B, C, D, E and F, which includes highly flammable ones.

For example, the plasterboard sheets they boast good fireproof insulation capabilities, thanks to the presence of gypsum which slows the spread of fire and can also withstand high temperatures. The best solutions are however the rock wool and glass wool, among the most used and appreciated thermal insulators in private construction, to be used for the protection of walls, ceilings and chimneys.

Fireproof materials for pipes

One of the critical points in fireproof insulation is represented by the Pipes, in fact, the pipes can represent a risk element in the event of a fire. For this reason it is important to protect these structures, using anti-flammable materials high quality and certified.

In this case a good choice is the Polyethylene products, characterised by a rather high fire resistance R factor, or they can be applied collars and sleeves to insulate cables and pipes. It is equally important to use fireproof materials for repairs, using special insulating silicones fire resistant for closing holes and sealing uninsulated pipes.
